Parallel is an independent media and technology business. We fund our work through YouTube advertising and sponsorships, along with products sold through this store.
We take inspiration from businesses like Raspberry Pi: create capable, accessible building blocks, support them with useful documentation and education, and let customers take those tools in directions the original creator may never have imagined.
Parallel aims to apply that principle to field infrastructure. We sell practical hardware, guides, and technical knowledge that people can purchase, understand, modify, deploy, and build businesses around.
If a company uses one of our guides to create communications infrastructure for its operation—and that infrastructure helps the company generate value—that’s a win. We don’t want to charge per node, restrict how much someone can use what they built, or claim a percentage of what they create.
Our business should grow because we continue making useful things—not because customers are trapped inside them.
There Should Be a Free Path
Many of the technologies we work with are open source, publicly documented, or available independently from third parties. We also publish free videos, experiments, code, project files, and public GitHub repositories of our own.
We do not charge customers for access to resources that are otherwise available free.
Someone willing to spend the time researching, experimenting, integrating, and troubleshooting can often build these systems without buying anything from Parallel.
Our paid products exist for people who want to save time, reduce trial and error, and get to a working system faster.
What We Sell
Digital Plans
Original field manuals and build guides based on systems we have tested ourselves. Depending on the project, they can include living online documentation, downloadable PDFs, component lists, sourcing guidance, hardware assembly instructions, exact configuration steps, walkthrough videos, diagrams, troubleshooting procedures, performance testing, application guides, and future updates.
Courses
Structured educational products that organize technical concepts and practical skills into a guided learning path. Courses can include video instruction, written lessons, demonstrations, reference materials, exercises, downloads, and supporting resources.
3D Print Files
Original downloadable designs for enclosures, mounts, accessories, and other parts developed around Parallel projects. These products may include STL, CAD, print-setting, assembly, or related design files as specified on the product page.
Hardware & Gear
Physical components, accessories, and complete systems for customers who would rather purchase working hardware than fabricate or assemble everything themselves.
What You’re Paying Parallel For
Our paid products are the work we create around the underlying technology: experimentation, field testing, system integration, hardware selection, configuration, troubleshooting, documentation, instructional videos, education, design work, maintenance, and support materials.
A public GitHub repository, for example, may contain the code required for a project at no cost. A Parallel field manual might add the tested hardware configuration, exact installation sequence, step-by-step video walkthrough, troubleshooting process, performance results, and maintained documentation needed to turn that code into a working system.
The underlying technology may be open. The testing, integration, design, instruction, and documentation we create around it are our work.
Build With It
We want customers to be able to take what they learn and do something useful with it—including building systems for their own businesses and creating economic value from what they build.
We don’t try to insert ourselves into that downstream value.
Customers may use the knowledge and systems they build for legitimate personal or commercial purposes, subject to applicable laws and any product-specific license terms. What they may not do is redistribute or resell Parallel’s paid guides, videos, design files, or other copyrighted materials as their own.
